A short history

Founded in 1907 as the Chinese Red Cross General Hospital and Medical School, Huashan was one of Shanghai’s earliest hospitals established by Chinese professionals. Its Red Cross tradition continues today through a large teaching and research hospital with national centres for neurological disease, infectious disease and ageing medicine. The hospital also has a long history of providing international and foreign-patient services.
